On behalf of the racing industry in Queensland, RQ extends its condolences to the family and friends of Sam Zammit, a much respected participant in the Queensland industry.
Sam’s career in harness racing began in Sydney as a 16 year old before moving north to set up camp in Queensland where his career highlights included winning the first harness race every run under lights at Albion Park on 7 September 1968. Sam continued training trotters in the Redcliffe region up until 1989 when he sold his training property where today the land including Zammit Oval is used for little athletics.
Sam’s funeral service will be held at Mary Immaculate Church, 31 Edmund Rice Dr, Ashmore on Friday the 15th at 2pm.
