The harness racing industry is mourning the passing of prominent horseman and charity founder Robin Leonard following a 14-month battle with cancer at the age of 72.

Leonard originally trained out of Eastfield Park in Croydon before relocating to Lara where he often rented out boxes to young trainers making their way in harness racing.

Leonard enjoyed success with pacers Our Uncle Jim, Apple Of My Eye and HInoz Best.

Leonard was the founder of Children’s Charity Network which aims to wipe out illiteracy among underprivileged children in outback areas of Australia.
