Harness Racing Victoria and the Geelong Harness Racing Club are mourning the passing of long time club and industry stalwart Garth Allen.

Mr Allen passed away last Wednesday aged 77 years. He was a Life Member of the Geelong Harness Racing Club, also serving as Vice-President for many years, as well as being a regular fixture as Club Steward for Geelong harness racing meetings and trials fixtures.

He was also involved as an owner with Ron Anderson and lifetime friend of 63 years Neil Richmond, part-owners of 2013 Hamilton Pacing Cup winner Our Arlington, undefeated 2YO pacer Motu Gatecrasher and the pride of their team, Flaming Flutter, who ran 2nd to Beautide in the 2015 Inter Dominion Grand Final at Menangle.

The harness racing industry extends its sympathies to his wife Margaret, daughter Kate and sons Tim, Nigel and Nicky and their extended families
