HARNESS Racing Victoria was saddened by the news that veteran horseman Don Ritchie passed away at Bendigo in late December.
Ritchie always had a small team of horses in work which carried his brown and white silks to victory at many tracks in northern Victoria.
Among Ritchie’s winners were Home Peak, Killarney Ayr, I Like To Fake It and Cobargo Magic.
But Ritchie was best known as the trainer of former top class pacer Brer Rabbit who won many races at the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds and Moonee Valley along with a victory in the 1978 Shepparton Gold Cup.
Harness Racing Victoria offers its sympathy to Elaine, Peter, Nicole and families.
