2Captaintreacherous 2, 1:49.2; 3, 1:47.1 ($3,148,657), both the richest and fastest son of champion sire Somebeachsomewhere, will be available to ‘Down Under’ breeders this season via frozen semen from Empire Stallions in Victoria.

A magnificent individual standing 16.1 hands, World Champion Captaintreacherous is without question one of the best-bred, best-performed sires ever to be available in the Southern Hemisphere.

Captaintreacherous may have been a $250,000 yearling purchase, but the price turned out to be a bargain as he earned $3.14 million winning 23 races during his sensational race career.

This brilliant, young stallion stands at the famed Hanover Shoe Farms in Pennsylvania where he has served two consecutive full books of the best mares in North America.

He was named the US and Canadian 2YO of the Year and 3YO of the Year in 2012 & 2013 and he is the only horse besides Niatross and Bret Hanover to accomplish back-to-back All-Age Pacer of the Year awards at both 2 and 3.

As a two-year-old Captaintreacherous won eight of his 10 starts for $918,253 and gained immortality as the first juvenile of all-time to post four sub 1:50 winning miles.

He took his two-year-old record of 1:49.2 equalling the stakes record in the $1-million Metro Pace at Mohawk Raceway in which he defeated Apprentice Hanover and Odds On Equulus after being 8 lengths back at the 800 metre pole. He also won an elimination of the Metro in 1:49.3 the previous week.

His other notable victories at 2 were the $309,050 Woodrow Wilson in 1:49.3 by an impressive 10-1/4 lengths in a stakes and track record, the $109,206 Nassagaweya in 1:51.3, divisions of the Bluegrass (1:51.3) and International Stallion Stake (1:50.3) and an elimination of the Breeders Crown in 1:50 by 3-3/4 lengths.

As a three-year-old Captaintreacherous was in a class of his own. This superstar won 13 of his 16 starts and banked a massive $2,055,033, winning the four richest events on the race calendar – the $1 Million North America Cup in 1:48.3, the $635,750 Meadowlands Pace in 1:48.1 by 3-1/4 lengths, the $500,000 Breeders Crown in 1:49.2 and the $500,000 Hempt Memorial in 1:49.2.

The ‘Captain’ also captured the $360,000 Cane Pace in 1:49.2, the $256,000 American National in 1:49, the $215,500 Tattersall’s Pace in 1:47.2 and a $95,500 division of the  Bluegrass at Lexington in a sizzling lifetime mark of 1:47.1.

Trained by Tony Alagna and driven by Tim Tetrick, Captaintreacherous is one of only a handful of horses to amass earnings of over $2 million in a single season and over $3 million lifetime.

With only 4 crops of racing age, the Captain’s sire Somebeachsomewhere (1:46.4), has proven himself as one of the most influential sires in the pacing world today. In North America Beach is already the sire of 32 in 1:50, 131 winners of over $100,000, 4 Millionaires, winners of over $45 Million, numerous World Champions and is a leading sire of both 2 & 3 year-olds in North America and Australia.

Worldly Treasure (2, 1:53.1), the dam of Captaintreacherous, is a 100% producer by Artsplace and is a full sister to the World Champion racemare Worldly Beauty (1:49.3), winner of $1.9-million and the 2YO and 3YO Filly of her year.

Worldly Treasure is out of World Order 1:53 (dam of seven in 2:00), by Nihilator from Rodine Hanover, by Big Towner. This is the family of successful sires Art Major, Perfect Art, Romeo Hanover, etc.

Dr Bridgette Jablonsky, the farm manager of Hanover, said: “The ‘Captain’ has it all, great performance on the racetrack, great courage, a fantastic pedigree and perhaps most important of all, he’s gorgeous and correct. He is passing these traits on to his first crop of foals who are just absolutely stunning.”

His frozen semen is available in Australia for $10,000 including GST and in New Zealand $10,000 plus GST, payable by April 1, 2017.
