The Albion Park Harness Racing Club will play host to a strong ten race program this Saturday night.
And it’s a feature night of racing action.
The metropolitan club will stage the Listed $25,000 Lord Mayors Cup for the open class performers which is a mobile start feature over 2138m while the Statewide Taxation Trotters Christmas Cup is also scheduled and will be run under stand start conditions at the same distance.
Classy performer Caesars Folly returns from an unsuccessful Sydney campaign and is looking at going one better than he did last year when beaten narrowly behind giant pacer Majestic Major in a driving finish.
Prepared by husband and wife combination of Shannon Price and Scott Miller, Caesars Folly must overcome the outside of the second-line while several in-form pacers have drawn nicely off the front.
American Legend, a stablemate of Caesars Folly looms as a serious threat after scoring a brilliant victory last start after unleashing his powerful finishing burst.
Grand campaigner Destreos, a winner of 64 races at Albion Park, is lining up in his 7th Lord Mayors Cup after contesting his first back in 2009 while proving successful in 2011.
The Ken Rattray trained warhorse will start from gate nine, two off the second-line.
Gambling giant UBET are offering several jackpots throughout the program including a $30,000 trifecta carryover on the opening race.
The Rio Meteor Sulky Pace will be staged over 1660m and features several in-form pacers including the speedy Franco Nepia.
Prepared by Bart Cockburn, the New Zealand bred gelding has won 4 of his last 5 starts including his ‘PB’ performance last start in 1:54.7.
Franco Nepia has drawn widely in gate seven.
A guaranteed Quadrella pool of $25,000 is also slated; the quaddie will be staged on races 2, 3, 4 & 5.
UBET are also offering a $5000 First 4 jackpot on race three and a $2000 First 4 jackpot on Race 7.
The first of 9 races is scheduled to start at 5.08pm.
