The Adelaide based breeder Bruce Cameron has been a successful breeder and owner for almost 30 years. Bruce and his brother Craig, along with close friend P. Gleeson have bred countless winners.

 

On Super Sunday Breeders Crown day Bruce Cameron won not one but two Breeders Crown Finals.

 

Super three-year-old filly Rocknroll Magic took out the Group1 Woodlands Stud 3YO Fillies final by Rock N Roll Heaven out of All The Magic a granddaughter of Larrakeyah Lady.

 

Then Cameron not to outdone took out the Nevele R Stud 4YO mares Group 2 Final with Lovelist by Always A Virgin out of a daughter of Larrakeyah Lady named Lifeline.

 

Cameron remembers how he first got involved in harness racing “My father bought a mare by Highland Fling, the aim was to race her and then to breed. She was never good enough to make it to the racetrack but went on to breed several foals and left two winners. My passion for harness racing and the breeding industry started from there”

 

With his brother Craig they purchased a filly called Larrakeyah Lady, who was a very good race mare, winning the Vicbred Sires Stakes as a 4 years old.

But since her retirement from the track Larrakeyah Lady has gone onto become a broodmare gem in fact she has become a breed shaper.

 

She is the dam of nine individual winners, seven of whom took records of better than 2:00 and five which earned in excess of $100,000!

The best of her produce was Safe And Sound, which won 33 races and a mammoth $995,606 in stakes including the A. G. Hunter Cup, South Australian Pacing Cup, Kilmore Cup and Australian Pacing Gold.

Larrakeyah Lady, is also the dam of  The Good Times 1:54.4 ($200,639), a winner at Group and Listed level, Massarau 1:55.8 (42 wins and $282,692), Gold Rocket 1:51 (36 wins and $393,387) and Safeguard 1:55.8 ($112,165).

Other than Lovelist,Larrakeyah Lady is the grand-dam of Starburst Girl (1:54.8),He’s Magic Red, Celebrity Guest and Escapades.

She is also the third dam of the cup class pacer Exciteusinthecity (1:52.9), RocknrollMagic,Telham Lane.Punch Line (1:54.2), the winner of 2014 Southern Cross 3YO Final, Royal Crime (1:55.7), the winner of 13 races and $100,753 and Don Alvaro 1:59.5 as well as Southern Cross winner and Victorian Oaks champion, Beauty Secret 1:52.4 ($425,921) and Major Secret 1:55.6 ($294,734), a winner of 14 races including the NSW Derby.

Cameron has become heavily involved in syndication under the banner of Cameron Racing Group.
