With the fastest closing quarter in last Saturday night’s Group 1 NSW Breeders Challenge Final connections of Bathurst pacer Better Be The Best have mixed feelings.
The two-year-old finished second in the feature to Captains Knock and gave away the race when breaking gait at the start.
The Nathan Turnbull-trained pacer made up considerable ground and was only two metres off the winner when they rated 1:52.9.
Better Be The Best has a record of six wins and a placing in nine starts and will most likely be aimed at the $100,000 Breeders Challenge Blue Final at Menangle on November 12.
He is currently the highest ranked horse in his category for that series.
The feature has doubled in prizemoney this year and there will be four $100,000 Blue finals for each juvenile age and sex.
Meanwhile, Turnbull is back in action at Bathurst tonight with six of his own horses engaged.
The iForm best bets for Wednesday:
Bathurst best bet
Race 4: Saint Veran (3)
Tried hard behind a star at Menangle and appears too classy dropping in grade.
Bathurst next best
Race 2: Diletto (3)
Consistent mare capable of keeping favourite followers very honest.

Race 5: 4-3-1-9-10
Race 6: 9-3-4-6
