Promising colt Seven No Trumps has been unplaced at his past five starts, but star reinsman Shannon Suvaljko is bubbling with confidence that he will bounce back to top form and win the final event, the 2130m In Loving memory of Alec Barfield Pace at Gloucester Park on Friday night.
Suvaljko’s level of confidence was boosted after trainer Peter Tilbrook had driven Seven No Trumps in a 2150m Byford trial on Sunday morning. Seven No Trumps began smartly from the outside in the field of four and set a moderate pace before sprinting over the final 400m in 28.7sec. to win the trial by 10m from Arma Xfactor.
“The trial was good and he’s back on Target,” said Suvaljko. “And from barrier one I’ll be aiming to lead. Hoppys Way ran a quick quarter (27.1sec.) when he won at Northam, but I think Seven No Trumps will win. He looks my best on the night.
“He was unlucky at his latest start (when ninth behind Tricky Miki in the group 1 Golden Slipper three Sundays ago). He was knocked down (when approaching the home turn). He wasn’t going to win but was going to run third or fourth.”
Suvaljko said that be believed that Seven No Trumps would prove superior to Bunbury trainer Sarah Wall’s two promising fillies Dontbesillychilli and Make Your Mark.
Dontbesillychilli notched her second win when she set the pace and won easily from Beyond The Sea and Make Your Mark last Friday night. Dontbesillychilli will start from the No. 6 barrier with Nathan Turvey in the sulky, while Emily Suvaljko will drive Make Your Mark from barrier five.
