3Tabcorp Park Melton is gearing up this Friday Night to host one of its best nights of racing for the season.

Unquestionably the highlight on the big 11-race program will be the $50,350 Olympus Feeds Smoken Up Sprint, which is to be run over the 1720m trip.

This race sees a cavalcade of stars from Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland converge on Tabcorp Park and the Melton track record mile rate of 1:51.1 is certain to be under serious threat.

Amazingly nine of the 11 horses engaged in Friday night’s Smoken Up Sprint are headed to the Inter Dominion Carnival in Perth at the end of the month.

Current Inter Dominion favourite Lennytheshark heads up the quality on offer in the Smoken Up Sprint on Friday night, however he will have to overcome an awkward inside second row barrier draw.

Mach Beauty fresh off his last start 1:50.9 all-the-way win at Menangle has drawn ideally in barrier 3 to repeat the dose at Melton on Friday, while last-start Queensland Pacing Championship winner Our Hi Jinx will be dangerous from his ideal barrier 1 draw. Avonnova (barrier 2), Keayang Cullen (5) and Flaming Flutter (10) round out the other big chances in the Group 2 feature event.

The other major feature race for the night is the $50,350 Group 1 Aldebaran Park Bill Collins Trotters Sprint also to be run over the 1720m trip. Maori Time has drawn ideally to utilise his early gate speed from barrier two in the race while his main danger looks to be the highly talented Glenferrie Typhoon, who is taking on elite open class company for the first time.

Tabcorp Park Melton CEO Shane Gloury said: “We are looking forward to a fantastic night of great racing and entertainment on Friday. We encourage everyone to get to Melton on Friday Night to see some of Australia’s best pacers and trotters in action.”

Entry to Tabcorp Park Melton is free and punters on course will also receive a free racebook.

As an added incentive to get to Melton early on Friday Night, $2 tap beers, $3 house wines and $5 basic spirits will be on offer as part of a Happy Hour from 4.30pm to 6pm in the Sports Bar.  In addition, two lucky racegoers on course will each win $100 in the Racebook Cash Giveaway promotion.

Limited dining places are still available in the Toolern Room and the Home Straight Bistro on Friday Night. For bookings phone Bianca on 8746 0602.

The first of 11 races is set down for 6.03pm while the last race will be conducted at 11.10pm.
