OUTSTANDING reinsman Chris Lewis is hoping for a case of third time lucky when he heads to Tasmania next week.
Lewis will make the long trip to the Apple Isle as one of two Western Australian representatives in the Australian Driving Championship.
The dual Inter Dominion winner contested the 2015 edition in Launceston and last year’s running in Adelaide, finishing sixth on both occasions.
This season’s round is scheduled to be staged in Hobart on Saturday, October 28.
Representatives from each state will contest six heats, with the title of national champion decided on points.
“Third time is a charm, so it would be good if it worked out that way,” Lewis said. “It comes down to luck and the draws.
“It is important to get a couple of decent drives to accumulate enough points.”
In what will be a tiring 24 hours for Lewis, he will drive at Gloucester Park on Friday night before taking a ‘red eye’ flight to Tassie to be ready for the series the following evening.
Lewis will be joined on his trip by Ryan Warwick, with the pair receiving their state colours last night.
“It is always fun to be in these kinds of series and I am looking forward to it,” Lewis said. “They are fun, but very competitive.
“Hopefully we can bring home the title for Western Australia.”
