Nike Franco the beautifully bred mare on the very strong Mcardle / Badlands Hanover cross has now won north of $430,000 in just 37 life time starts.
What l find really interesting is that her dam the great Badlands mare Nearea Franco won $440,875 from only 34 starts, the thought of breeding mares like this keeps people in the sport.
Like her Dam, Nike Franco is from the high achieving U24 family, this mare is racing towards the $500k mark in very fast time, here are just a few family members below, that also did amazing things on the track.
Nike Franco has won all of her NA races so far and today run a career best time of 1:51. leaving the boys for dead in a strong field at Dover Downs.
Although it must be very exciting for all the connections seeing this mighty mare by McArdle taking apart her competition, I just think it’s a bit sad we ( AUS/NZ) have lost her to NA and its extremely unlikely any of her progeny will be seen in this country in the years to come.
Our friends over the ditch have had this issue for years and I have no doubt many others before me have looked at the effect this will have on our sport going forward.
With a pedigree like below, her future after racing also looks extremely bright.
