Ghostly Courage’s victory at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Tuesday was quite significant for Sydney based reinsman Robbie Morris as it was his 100th winner for the 2022 season.

Morris, who is regarded as one of the best of his craft has also been one of the most consistent drivers in Australasia, a fact that is highlighted by him surpassing the century mark in every season since 2014, his best term being in 2019-20 when he drove an impressive 204 winners.

“It is a goal of mine to be able to drive more than one hundred every season and to better my tally from the previous year,” said Morris.

“As those in the industry know, there are so many contributing factors that come into play throughout any season. So, I am just grateful that I have been able to maintain my consistency in driving winners.

“It does help that our own stable is performing well, and I do get a lot of support from outside stables for which I am always grateful.”

On Saturday night at Tabcorp Park Menangle, Morris will take the reins behind the consistent pacer Petes Said So who will contest the Boden Projects Club Builders Paul Fitzpatrick Free For All.

The gelding who is racing in career best form is owned by Canberra golf professional Peter Kohlsdorf and has won more than $220,000 from 107 career starts.

He was impressive in winning in strong company last start which pleased his connections.

“Pete Kohlsdorf is a great supporter of our stable. He purchases good stock and KerryAnn and I appreciate the support that he gives us,” said Morris.

“This horse has been a real revelation for the stable and has a great will to win.

“He had been knocking on the door in the open grade, so it was satisfying to get that win with him a fortnight ago.

“Tomorrow night he comes back to the mile, and we have drawn wide. But there does look to be plenty of early speed horses in the race. Hopefully they will go hard which will help our chances to come over the top of them.

Morris returns to his happy hunting ground tonight at Newcastle where he has the six drives and has named Ziggy Rocks as his best chance of winning.

“If Ziggy is able to lead, he will take some catching.”
