The famous Kalgoorlie round got under way last night, the round steep in history incorporates a week of events of Thoroughbreds and harness racing.
The famous Cruickshank Sports Arena could well be renamed the Greg and Skye Bond Arena after the husband and wife training team took out five of the six races on the program.
The Bond’s son -in –law and stable driver Ryan Warwick drove four of their five winners, with Mitchell Miller was successful on board Ima Tragedy.
Miller has only being working for the Bond stables in March this year and the employment came about after Miller approached Ryan Warwick at a race meeting in Albany. He drove his first winner for the Bonds in April and has not looked back when given the opportunities.
Interestingly all of the Bond’s five winners are former New Zealand pacers, The Trilogy & Mister Daytona (both by American Ideal), GazWannabet is a son of Bettors Delight, Change Stride (Rocknroll Hanover) and Ima Tragedy is by Sands AFlyin.
Team Bond harness up nine runners and finished with five winners a second and two thirds.
The next meeting on the Tuesday night with the running of the Mount Eden Sprint and the round closes out with the Kalgoorlie- Boulder pacing Cup next Friday.
