A total of four participants recorded doubles in Launceston last Friday night with the meeting playing host to the first feature race of the season, the Tasmanian Horse Transport Show Cup with Full Speed Ahead.
New Norfolk reinsman Ricky Duggan got another win and is now one win short on becoming the first Tasmanian driver to record 1600-wins. Duggan looks set to achieve the feat with a number of good chances in Hobart tomorrow night.
The Hobart card kicks off earlier than normal compared to recent weeks with the first race set down for 16:23.
The Stars
Marc Butler – trained a double on the Friday night card in Launceston with Our Boy Johnny who won his first race when second up since joining the Butler stable, while Adele Said registered her second win of the season later in the night to the joy of favourite punters.
Ben and Mark Yole – combined for a training and driving double with Ready To Fire who ended her run of recent bad luck with an all the way win in a slick 1m 57.5s mile rate before they continued their brilliant strike rate with three-year-old filly Mornings who remains undefeated after five starts in the state.
Todd Rattray – another to walk away from the Launceston card with a double including the first feature race of the season, the Tasmanian Horse Transport Show Cup with Full Speed Ahead who was a tough winner of the $12,000 feature. Rattray then trained and drove Zhukov Leis to a slick 1m 56.1s win in the C5 to C6 Pace.
Samantha Gangell – moved to equal third on the states Junior Driver title when winning the last race on Demonstrative, she will be one of ten drivers to compete in next months 6ty Youngbloods.
All Over The Stars – continued his brilliant form of late in the trotting races.

Carrick Park – Monday
Four-year-old Major In Art gelding, Art Frenzy recorded the quickest mile rate of the five trials held at Carrick Park on Monday evening when he recorded 2 minutes 3.6 seconds when taking out a C0 mobile trial over 2150-metres.
Driver Mark Yole took the last start Launceston winner straight to the lead where he was inclined to over race slightly during the trial and was able to pull clear over the concluding stages to win by six-metres and travelled to the line under a strong hold by Yole.
The remaining trials were won by; All Style Sammy (2m 11.7s), Riverboat Jasper (2m 5.3s), Secluded Beach (2m 4.0s) and North Star Lad (2m 5.2s)
Week Ahead
Harness racing returns to Hobart for Friday twilight racing.
The fast class race of the night is the Olympus Feeds Pace that looks to be a race in two, between Taurisi who is looking for three wins on the bounce after his good win in Devonport last start and the Juanita McKenzie “Sprint Specialist” Mister Lennox who is first up from a spell and is a recent Hobart trial winner.
Another good race of the night is the C5 to C6 Pace where you can make a chance for all of the seven starters in the race.
