Favourites dominated the preludes of the Collins Homes Granny Smith and the Tasfreight Raider Stakes on Sunday night.
The traditional Devonport features are being held in Hobart this year, with the $60,000 Finals being held on Sunday week.
On Monday, it was announced that Sheffield-based stud Tourello Standardbreds would offer three new sires for the upcoming season.
Lennytheshark, a 23-time Group 1 winner, will be standing at the stud, while Summa Cum Laude and All Bets Off will both be available by frozen semen.
The Stars
Ben Yole – trained six of the nine winners in Launceston on Friday night, then he prepared four of the nine in Hobart on Sunday night, and in the process, surpassed 150 Tasmanian wins for the 2023 season.
Todd Rattray – is closing in on his 400th training win after a training and driving double in Hobart on Sunday. Boom pulled off a betting plunge to take out the fast class race of the night, while Magician put up a great battle to win the Raider Stakes Prelude.
Rohan Hillier – drove a double in Hobart and did so on two nice types. He drove the Rohan Hadley-trained De Goey to an easy victory in a conditioned 3YO event before guiding Miss Papenhuyzen, who he also trains, to a 21.5m win in the Prelude of the Granny Smith.
Serengeti Sunrise – made it two wins from his past three starts with another tough win in Launceston on Friday night. The gelded son of Somebechsomewhere was driven by his trainer, Steven Davis.
