26 July 2023 | Duncan Dornauf for Tasracing

After a 10-race card in Hobart last weekend, we have two meetings to look forward to this week.

The first is an eight-race card in Hobart on Friday night before a further nine races in Launceston on Sunday.

The Shallows will make his much-awaited interstate debut at Menangle on Saturday night.

The former Tasmania Cup winner has joined the stables of former Tasmanian James Rattray and will line up in the second race of the night from the pole draw.

The Stars

Hy Leinvincible – couldn’t have been any more impressive at his first start in the state on Sunday night. With a 33.6m win after leading all the way for trainer-driver Rohan Hillier, the gelding looks to be well placed to add to his winning tally in the coming weeks.

Cedric Seymour – is another progressive type who made it two wins in a row. The Tammy Langley pacer was again well driven in front by her son Dylan Ford for a 12.7m win for the lightly raced gelded son of Sunshine Beach.

Charmedforareason – after a last-start second in the Granny Smith Final, the daughter of For A Reason recorded her third win of the season with an all the way win in a no-more-than four lifetime win race. She is eligible for next week’s Beautide.

Ryan Backhouse – made the most of a quick trip home with a last stride win aboard Velocity Stride in one of two claiming novice drivers races held. The win of Velocity Stride was one of four winners for trainer Ben Yole.
