Driver Luke McCarthy said connections felt a long break was best for King Of Swing after his meteoric rise over the past two months.

“The WA connections weren’t keen on Queensland, so he can go out now and long break then a steady 12-week build-up before racing again in September,” McCarthy said.

“The Victoria Cup will be the first target back, but he can have a couple of runs at Menangle before heading down for that. Then it’s all about the Inter Dominion up here (NSW).

“He’s come so far, so quickly and he’s still a young horse so there’s lots to look forward to.”

McCarthy said he and trainer Craig Cross would still raid Queensland Winter riches with open-class stars like Miracle Mile placegetter Alta Orlando and long-time stable star Bling It On.

“They’ll have a bit of a break now, then come back for the Len Smith Mile and onto Queensland,” he said.

More immediately, McCarthy is confident the stable will have another big night at Menangle tomorrow (Saturday) night.

“We’ve got a really strong hand,” he said. “Cash N Flow is a bit below our best open-class horses, but he’s back in the grade for the free-for-all this week and the mile suits him even though he’s drawn wide.

“Bettor Enforce has come through that huge run in the Ladyship Mile really well. She’ll be hard to beat despite the wide draw.

“She’ll keep ticking along until the Queen Of The Pacific in Melbourne.

“And Molly Kelly is another one I really like. She’s come back very well and will be hard to beat again this week. I think she’ll keep working through the grades pretty quickly.”
