2Gavin Lang and Greg Sugars will don the Big V at the annual Australian Driving Championships this Sunday at Launceston, Tasmania.

Lang and Sugars were presented with their silks by Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) CEO John Anderson last week.

“Greg and Gavin are not only in the top echelon of drivers in Victoria, they are two of the best we’ve got in Australasia and they’ll both do Victoria proud at the Championships,” Anderson said.

Sugars, AKA “the Candy Man”, drove 254 winners nationally last season, while Lang, “The Ice Man”, finished with 229.

Sugars has already notched 2059 races in his career to date, while the more senior Lang has won a whopping 5582 in his long and illustrious time in the sulky.

The Championships feature the cream of the Australian driving crop, with Grant Dixon and Shane Graham (Qld), Gareth Rattray and Ricky Duggan (Tasmania), Lauren Panella and Robert Morris (NSW), Ryan Hryhorec and Danielle Hill (SA) and Gary Hall Jr and Chris Lewis (WA) all in action.

The series kicks off at 5.59pm Sunday. Check it out on Sky Racing (Channel 519 on Foxtel) or radio RSN (927am).
