3Classy pacer Wicked Style will make his comeback on Tuesday at Albion Park.

The richly talented but injury plagued pacer resumes in the Rio Meteor Sulky Open Pace over the distance of 2138m, his first start in 26 months.

That is no typo, his first start in 26 months!

Wicked Style last raced on September 27, 2014 when successful at Albion Park defeating Screaman Seaman and Only The Brave.

The Western Edition – Iam In Front gelding boasts an outstanding record with 19 victories from 31 career starts to date while banking more than $220,000 in stakes.

Feature race triumphs include the Gr.1 RQIS Final and the Gr.2 Nursery Pace Final; both features were staged at Albion Park.

And both features came back in 2012 when he was a three-year-old.

The now eight-year-old will have a new race day driver with Adam Sanderson booked to take the drive after completing his trial work recently.

Wicked Style has completed three recent trials and Sanderson has handled him on each occasion, the latest trial (November 4) resulted in a victory in a time of 1:55.9.

“He felt nice last week in the trial and the improvement he’s made in each trial has been quite noticeable but this is a completely different ball game on race day. He’s coming back on a tight mark meaning there is no easy races for him but he’s got class, we all know that but Shawn (Grimsey – trainer) is happy with him and he knows him best.” Sanderson said.

Trainer Shawn Grimsey has battled injuries with Wicked Style for some time; he suffered tendon setbacks on more than one occasion.

All going to plan, Wicked Style could be an X-factor type pacer for the upcoming summer open class features next month.

Three open class features include the Gr.3 $30,000 Be Good Johnny Sprint on December 3 followed by the $20,000 Christmas Cup and the Gr.2 $50,000 Gold Coast Cup.

All features will be staged at Albion Park.
