The Perth APG Yearling Sale is set down for this Sunday at 1 pm at the Magic Millions Sales Complex and thanks to APG’s massive new investment in the west, it has the WA harness racing industry buzzing,.
There is now $650,000 worth of riches for this crop to compete for.
What’s also evident is the strength of the Dam families represented in the sale. Please see a small sample of my notes below which may help you in your search for WA’s next super star.
Lot 351 – The 1st dam has already left a $100,000 winner, dam is a half to a $355,000 winner. This filly is from the very strong U19 family.
Lot 353 – From the outstanding mare Gaetana Nicole who has already produced the Gr1 winning Major Martini . This filly is from the very respected N11 family.
Lot 362 – Is a Follow The Stars Colt bred on the very same successful cross (Follow The Stars – Northern Luck – Northern lights) as Aristocratic Star winner of $65,789 (from just 14 starts).
Lot 365 – This Colt by Fly Like An Eagle should have plenty of interest considering how well Direct Scooter line stallions have done in this N88 Family. Add that to the fact this is Fly Like An Eagle own family.
Lot 369 – A Colt from one of the best families (U20) in the world. The 2nd dam was a winner of $609,000 and her half-brother is the $970,000 winning Sunshine Beach . I can’t wait to see this fellow in the flesh.
Lot 370 – By the new sales sensation Always B Miki. This colt is out of the impressive N4 family and is a must see on sales day.
Lot 383 – This Bettors Delight filly is from New Zealand’s most successful family ( N1). Can’t imagine this filly get any rest over the weekend. Check her out.
Lot 387 – Is out the half-sister of David Hercules winner of $1,263,000 add that to the fact he is by Bettors Delight and we have a very nice lot to view.
Lot 390 – A Filly by Somebeachsomewhere that has look at me written all over her. The first dam won north of $100,000 and I just really like this N56 family from New Zealand.
Lot 392 – This Colt is from the U92 family that has produced Western Hanover $2,540,000 ( under 3rd dam ) and A Rocknroll Dance $2,429,000 just to name a few.
Lot 394 – Bred on the New Zealand cross of gold, Bettors Delight over a Cullen mare, this filly will must tick a lot of boxes.
Lot 414 – From the best family (U1) North America has. Any and all colt buyers should make the effort to view this October 25 by the champion Bettors Delight.
Lot 417 – Should spark plenty of bidding come Sunday. This American Ideal half-brother of Restrepo on paper looks like a very nice prospect.
Lot 426 – Will be one of the first fillies I will inspect on the weekend. By the champion Somebeachsomewhere this filly is out of the amazing U6 family.
Lot 430 – If this colt from the N10 family looks and walks at the same high level as his pedigree, he will have active bidding on him come Sunday.
Lots 445 & 448 – Colts like these on the east could make serous money. This branch of the U306 has a massive following, check out these boys, I will be.
Lot 456 – From a very strong Parsons Den mare, this colt is well worth looking at. Can’t wait to see how he walks.
Lot 466 – Can’t wait to see this Filly, by the new sire Betting Line, out of a wonderful N1 mare by Northern Luck. Put her on your pre-sale inspection list.
Lot 470 – A great looking full sister of the undefeated and favourite for the Gr1 Sales race tonight, Robbie Rocket. This filly by Follow Stars filly will be the perfect way to conclude the sale.
Given the outstanding maternal depth of this year’s catalogue, we’d like to think that we’ll be seeing plenty more of this year’s yearlings when they hit the racetrack in 12 months time.
if you’re interested in bidding, but you can’t be at the sales in person, we’ve got plenty of support to assist, including:
- You can complete a form appointing someone as your agent to bid on your behalf (e.g. a friend or trainer etc.);
- You can register for online bidding, which allows you to watch a live stream of the sales and bid from your PC (not available for ipads or iphones etc); or
- You can register for telephone bidding, in which case John Coffey (0418 500 111) will be your liaison to assist with bidding on the day.
