Unbeaten Mark Purdon-trained filly Our Dream About Me is the formidable favourite for Sunday’s Group 1 Form 700 New South Wales Oaks but Emma Stewart-trained Rocknroll Magic will be hoping to bring the favourite’s run untuck.
Rocknroll Magic has always been at the top of the pops for ability but her performance in last weekend’s heat was a career best run, says Stewart.
“It was a super run. I think it was the best run she has put together and if she had have found the front I don’t think the other one (Our Dream About Me) would have got her,” Stewart said
On Sunday Rocknroll Magic will start from gate five with Our Dream About Me, unbeaten in 11 starts, drawn awkwardly inside the second row.
Stewart will be hoping her charge can take full advantage of the better gate.
“I think that will be her best chance of winning (to lead). It will depend on what those drawn inside her do but hopefully they want a trail on her. She can do work as long as we don’t do too much work,” Stewart said.
Clearly her main danger is the awesome Our Dream About Me and Stewart understands that her filly will have to run the race of her life to win.
“That filly is an extremely good filly and we will have to go pretty extraordinary to beat her.”
