Blisteringly quick during his racing days, Scott Stewart is hoping stallion Bitobliss can produce just as much explosiveness in the breeding barn.
Stewart has decided to stand the son of Blissfull Hall/Petite Alto for $990 a service and says early interest has been warm.
“(It’s) Not flying but going OK,” he said.
“There was a lot of interest shown. If he ends up with 30 mares in foal then that will be good.”
Bitobliss won 24 races in a 57-run career, netting features such as the 2011 City of Melton Plate (Group 2), back-to-back Group 2 Kilmore Pacing Cups in 2011-12, The Legends Mile in 2012 and the same race renamed, the Smoken Up Sprint, in 2014.
His speed will hold him in good stead in his next phase, says Stewart, who hopes in three years’ time people will see Bitobliss as a genuine, top-quality ladies’ man.
“I think he’ll be successful. He was faster than anything we’d seen around here for a while,” Stewart said.
“You’ve got to give him a chance. And hopefully in three years’ time everyone will want him.
“I wanted to make him cheap enough for people to want to take a gamble.”
Stewart says life has always felt somewhat difficult for local breeders shopping homebred stallions, which is why he’s asking less than a grand for Bitobliss.
“It’s always been the case. Even back to Popular Alm and Gammalite, but what do you do? He’ll get his chance.”
