Talented reinsman Zac Steenhuis is eager to make the most of his opportunities while working at the Burrumbeet stables of injured trainer/driver Michael Stanley.
The 17-year-old concession driver has already won 32 races in his career and Stanley says Steenhuis is capable of winning plenty more.
“I think in the long run he’ll stack up well,” Stanley said when asked for his view on Steenhuis’ standing among current junior drivers.
“He’s very tactical and he does the form. That’s a good thing.
“You need to remember he’s only 17, so he’s got plenty of time.”
Stanley said Steenhuis used to help out at the stables on his school holidays and at weekends.
“He’s a good worker and if he keeps on working hard he’ll do well.”
There will be more opportunities at the Stanley stable in the foreseeable future with the talented horseman sidelined due to a severely broken leg.
Stanley broke his leg in three places during track work last month.
