VICTORIAN raider Treachery has been afforded no favours in her return to South Australia.

Winner of The Allwood at Globe Derby earlier in the season, Treachery will head back to the troubled venue for tomorrow night’s Southern Cross heats.

Engaged in the first of three qualifies in her division, the Emma Stewart-trained filly has drawn the outside of the front row.

Despite the awkward starting position Treachery is a $1.40 favourite.

“It’s not the best draw, but it’s not a problem either,” Stewart said. “With a scratching there are only six in the field so no matter where she settles she won’t be far off the pace.

“She’s proven she is a high class filly and will be extremely hard to beat.”

Boasting three wins and three seconds from seven starts, Treachery’s unplaced outing was in last weekend’s Australasian Breeders’ Crown Final where she endured a torrid run.

After being caught three-wide before settling in the ‘death seat’, the daughter of Captainthreacherous was then shuffled through the field to be three-back in the running line before again being taken three-wide without cover along the back straight

“Nothing went her way in the Crown Final, but she has pulled up fine and is ready to go again,” Stewart said. “The run took its toll up the home straight, but she never stopped fighting on.

“She’s had an easy but steady week and will be fine come Saturday night.”

Winner of her last eight starts, including beating the ‘boys’, Dancing Finn is the obvious danger from barrier four.

The daughter of A Rocknroll Dance slots into three as a result of the scratching.

“Dancing Finn has looked very impressive and seems to be getting better with each run,” Stewart said. “She’s also drawn to go forward and will take a bit of running down.”
