CHAMPION driver Anthony Butt is on the move again.
Butt today confirmed he and partner, Sonya Smith, were moving from Victoria to Camden, near Menangle, late next week.
“It’s a lifestyle thing and fact Timmy (Butt) is now well set-up makes it attractive as well,” Butt said.
“I spent so much time going up and back to drive in the better races for Tim last year, it made it hard to juggle that with our stable down here.
“And the lifestyle thing, less meetings and less travel, is certainly very attractive.”
Butt will mix stable driving for brother Tim with training a team out of Menangle with Smith.
“We’re taking up six horses from here and have half a barn at Menangle,” he said.
“Sonya and Andrea (Butt, Tim’s wife) are great mates and it’ll be nice to get us all back together up there.”
More immediately, Butt is excited about returning “home” to Christchurch for Cup Week where he has landed the drive on star Aussie trotter Kyvalley Blur.
“Lil (trainer Brent Lilley) said I can drive him because I’ll be there so that’s great. The old horse is flying. He’s going as well as ever,” he said.
“I’ll be there the whole week so I’m on the lookout for other drives as well. If anyone needs a driver for the Cup, let me know.”
