Shane and Lauren Tritton will come to the 2018 as the trainers of two Jewels contenders, Platinum Revolution and Pete’s Big Jim. And Shane Tritton has made no secret about the fact he would love to be the first Australian trainer to win a Jewels race.
The team made a huge statement at the trials yesterday at Menangle when Pete’s Big Jim made his debut for the stable.
The two-year-old exploded away from his rivals to win over a mile in 1.53.5. His final quarter was a sizzling 26.1.
The son of Big Jim bolted to the lead from the outside of the gate and was under a strong hold throughout for driver Lauren Tritton.
It was a breathtaking indication of what could potentially unravel on Harness Jewels day at Cambridge on Saturday week.
Harness Racing New Zealand called Shane Tritton to get an update following the trial and get his reaction to the performance.
