The Tasmanian owned and trained The Shallows – which won the $75k Tasmania Cup and the $12k 4/5YO Classic – has won the Vizpix Broadcast Services 4YO & Older Horse or Gelding of the Year Awards and the Ladbrokes Horse of the Year award.

The prestigious prize was announced at the Tasmanian Harness Racing Awards and Hall of Fame dinner at the Elwick Function Centre Ladbrokes Park, Hobart tonight (9 April) in front of more than 100 guests.

In other awards, Mickey Oh was named the Medical Edge 2YO Colt or Gelding of the Year (four wins from five starts), Miss Papenhuyzen the Tasmanian Trotting Club 2YO Filly of the Year Award (three wins from seven starts), Barooga Rock took out the Launceston Pacing Club 3YO Filly of the Year Award (four wins from five starts), Longfellow the Cor Comms 3YO Colt or Gelding of the Year (six wins from 12 starts) and Iden Gorgeous the Elderslie Horse Care & Spelling Mare of the Year Award.

Tasmanian Harness Hall of Fame inductees were associates Max McCormack and Milton Pettit and in breeding Draw Card.

Some well-deserved industry awards were presented with the Tasracing Mini Trot Award going to Amber Spring.

Driver Conor Crook won the St Mary’s Pacing Club Leading Driver Award with 90 wins.

Jordan Chibnall won her first Tasracing Leading Female Driver Award with 38 wins, also scoring her first place in the Junior Driver’s premiership.

Tammy Langley has won her first Carlton United Breweries Leading Female Trainer Award with 35 wins, 13 clear of her nearest contender.

Trainer Ben Yole won his sixth consecutive Devonport Harness Racing Club Leading Trainer Award and also established a new benchmark with 231 season wins, eclipsing his own performance from the 19/20 season (189 winners). This outstanding performance also landed Yole the HRA J.D.Watts Award for the leading National Trainer.

Artifice won the Tourello Standardbreds Broodmare of the Year Award with such outstanding progeny as Longellow and Juniper.

The Edgar Tatlow was awarded to former veterinarian, longtime industry breeder and administrator Trevor Leis
