VICTORIAN owners Merv and Meg Butterworth are looking forward to the upcoming South Australia Cup Carnival…and for good reason!

With the series of features, which conclude with the SA Cup on April 30, restricted to locally-trained pacers, the Butterworths are set to strengthen their focus on claiming the lion’s share of the stakes.

The Butterworths have already been enjoying a stellar stint with quality pacer Jimmy Mack, which captured the weekend’s free-for-all at Globe Derby.

Seemingly unbeatable since arriving in the state, Jimmy Mack has won his last eight starts.

As scary as that is for rivals, things are about to get worse, with the Butterworths to unleash another pair of open class performers.

According to Merv, that places Jimmy Mack third in the pecking order!

“Meg and I will have a three-pronged attack on the SA Cup and lead up races, which could see the other two start next week if there is a suitable race,” Merv said.

“It will be good to give them a start there before the first Cup in a couple of weeks.

“If we can’t it’s not the end of the world as they are race fit and I’m confident in saying they have the others covered.

“That’s going on what Jimmy Mack has achieved and knowing these two rate higher.”

Transported across from Western Australia, Motu Premier and Im Full Of Excuses have been transferred to veteran horseman Les Harding.

Motu Premier has a record of 19 wins and 27 placings from 74 starts for earnings of $415,115.

The son of Bettors Delight was a last start second behind Chicago Bull a fortnight ago.

Im Full Of Excuses’ tally sits on 22 wins and 20 placings from 105 starts for earnings of $380,006.

As for Jimmy Mack’s latest performance, the son of Washington V C rated 1:56.5 over 2230 metres with Dani Hill in the cart as Wrangler and Breach The Beach filled the placings.
