BEING first-up from a spell is expected to have no effect on Jamaican Rock’s undefeated status.

Completing a clean sweep of the Sales Series with his first two starts last May, Jamaican Rock was sent for a spell in preparation for what will be a busy end to the season.

Set to return in an Alabar Golden Nursery heat at Globe Derby on Saturday night, Jamaican Rock should then contest next week’s Final.

Trainer Ryan Hryhorec’s focus with the son of A Rocknroll Dance will then turn towards the Southern Cross Series in mid November.

If Jamaican Rock impresses the astute horseman during the futurity he will be taken interstate for the Vicbred Super Series.

“The plan all along was to have him in the Sales Series then giving him as long as possible off before the Nursery,” Hryhorec said.

“He did well during his time off and so far everything has gone perfect with him.

“The last couple of months are shaping up to be a busy time for him, so I’ll keep him as fresh as possible between runs.”

To be driven by Hryhorec, Jamaican Rock is a short-priced favourite from barrier four.

Hryhorec also has Hes All Torque drawn gate three in the heat along with Nicely Spoken and Waitpinga Heritage in the opening qualifier.

The latter pair have also drawn barriers three and four.

“The four of them are pretty nice two-year-olds,” Hryhorec said. “The other three are a touch below Jamaican Rock, but are more than capable of beating him on their night with the right run.

“I’m confident they will be right in the finish of both heats.”
