THERE are not enough superlatives to describe Encipher’s performance at Globe Derby jSaturday night.
First-up since finishing second in the Vicbred Super Series Final in Melton on New Year’s Eve, Encipher embarrassed her rivals in the South Australia Oaks.
Not only did the Emma Stewart-trained youngster score by 54 metres, she smashed the all-aged track record.
With Gaita Pullicino sitting motionless in the cart, the three-year-old rated a freakish 1:52.4 over 1800 metres, slashing a second-and-a-half from Mark Dennis’ record established in September 2016!
Thrilled with Encipher’s effort, Stewart stated the filly’s time is not a surprise.
“I’m not really surprised by that…she is a star,” Stewart said. “She’s done it easy tonight and wasn’t fully wound up.
“In fact, this was a one-off appearance as she is owned by a South Australian and when she gets home she’ll go back to the paddock.
“After another short break she will be aimed at the Southern Cross, Breeders’ Crown and Vicbred just like last season as well as the Victoria Oaks.”
After finding the front from barrier seven, Encipher was never seriously challenged as Flirting and Honeybun filled the placings.
Bred and owned by local Tyson Linke, the daughter of Captaintreacherous took her record to six wins and five seconds from 12 starts for earnings of $287,957.
