It’s going to be a huge weekend for South Australian Harness Racing starting on Friday when participants get to glam up for the HRSA’s night of nights, the Horse of the Year Awards.
Then the action turns to the track at Globe Derby Park on Saturday night with the running of the SA BOTRA Silver Salver Finals. Separate $50,000 Group 2 races will be held for two-year-old colts and fillies who passed through the sales ring in 2021 or were made eligible by way of non-sale entry.
The colts and geldings’ division pits the impressive first-up winner Jamaican Rock against the Alyce Finnis trained Lethal Louie, who won on debut at Horsham then chased home Rupert Ross in a heat of the SA Kindergarten.
The polemarker Indelible Mase also impressed first-up and, if the pace is on, then he may well have the sitting shot at the leaders in the home straight.
The fillies’ final will see Laylas Princess start from the coveted No. 1 gate and if the Betterthancheddar filly can hold the top then she will be mighty hard to run down.
Two Victorian fillies will make the trip in the Isabel Walsh trained Liberty Crest and the Damien Burns entry Majorholeinmypocket, the latter being the first of the Major Secret progeny to grace the starter.
The time-honoured Norman Memorial for mares is the other feature race on the program.
The action starts at 6.53pm.
