Fresh after winning the biggest race of his training career, Bathurst horseman Mat Rue heads back to his local track tonight.
Rue won the Group 2 Shirley Turnbull Memorial last Sunday with his pacer Fouroeight, causing a massive upset at starting odds of $61.
The eight-year-old pacer was named in honour of fallen Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes whose baggy green number was 408.
It was the third time Rue had a starter in the Shirley Turnbull Memorial and Fouroeight beat his rivals by more than 19m with Inter Dominion heat winner Bundoran second and Mach Dan in third.
It was a big night for Rue as he drove a treble at the meeting that included success in the Olive and Ray McCarthy Memorial with the Jack Trainor-trained Iylac Beach.
Rue has driven 965 winners in his career and trained 120 winners.
