SOHO Tribeca’s new trainer Mick Stanley refuses to concede this Miracle Mile to Lazarus.

On face value, Soho Tribeca had every possible chance to beat Lazarus in that epic Hunter Cup, but Stanley took plenty of positives from it and has set his sights on turning the tables at Menangle on Saturday week.

But first, Soho Tribeca has to secure his Miracle Mile berth through one of the two lead-up sprints at Menangle this Saturday night.

“We’ve had some more luck this week, with avoiding having to face Lazarus and drawing well” Stanley said. “It’s great we’ve drawn inside the other two big names (Lennytheshark nine and Heaven Rocks 10) starting from outside us.

“We get the chance to push forward and hopefully find the lead or at least be right up on the speed.

“It would be great to get the win this week for a few reasons, including the milestone it would take him past the $1 million stakemoney.”

While Stanley is pleased to bypass Lazarus this week, he is eager for a rematch in the Miracle Mile.

“I know we had our chance to run past him in the Hunter Cup after all the work he did down the back straight, but there were still plenty of positives out of getting so close to him,” he said.

“We came from (gate) 13 and gave him a 30 or 40m start early before doing some work to get around the field and then take the trail on him. We didn’t just land in that great spot on his back.”

So how does Soho Tribeca turn the tables?

“You need everything to go right, from the barrier draw to where you land in the run,” Stanley said.

“I think you have to lead to beat him. It’s almost impossible to come from behind him and get past him. Greg (Sugars, driver) said every time he got within a neck in that last 200m of the Hunter, Lazarus would just lift and hold us at bay.

“We have to be in front of him. We have to make him chase and run us down.

“I hope we get that chance in the Miracle Mile.”

Stanley also has exciting three-year-old filly Soho Burning Love in the second heat of the NSW Oaks at Menangle on Saturday night.

“I think she’s got as good a chance as any of not only winning the heat, but the final as well,” he said.

“She’s won all three runs really well this campaign and she will definitely be sharper than when she was Hunter Cup night.

“She missed a lead-up run at Kilmore before Hunter Cup night and she blew quite hard after the race.

“She’s a really good filly this one. Very strong. She’ll love the 2400m and I think it could find some of them out.”

The Aussie TAB has Soho Tribeca a $6 second favourite behind Lazarus ($1.70) in the Miracle Mile prepost market.
