Ray Green gave impressive maiden winner Recco Lover a huge wrap after he demolished a good field at Alexandra Park tonight.

“He’s a better than King Of Swing and Royal Lincoln.

“In a maiden field tonight I thought, heck, he’s a certainty.”

In the hands of Zac Butcher, Recco Lover led for the entirety of the trip and raced away late after plunge horse American Brave galloped in the parked position at the top of the straight.

“Zac said he had to give him a couple of cracks with the whip to keep his mind on the job, but he responded well,” said Green.

Recco Lover was an expensive failure as a hot favourite when resuming a fortnight ago, failing to find the lead and running brave second after sitting parked.

“He’s his own worst enemy but will only improve with racing.

“He’s a serious horse, though.

“Sires Stakes, Derbies, you name it.”

Green had earlier won with Royal Lincoln, who likewise led and kicked clear to win.

He was driven by David Butcher, who got away with soft sectionals in front then brushed home in 27.2 to win stylishly from a fast-finishing My Generation.

“We’ve got three really nice colts in the barn at the moment and with these two winning tonight, all we need now is King Of Swing to win the Breeders Crown on Sunday to top it all off.”

King Of Swing is the favourite with bookie’s for Sunday’s A$285,000 Australasian Breeders Crown 2YO Colts & Geldings Final at Melton in Victoria.
