5Organisers of Sunday’s Ready2Run Sale at Tabcorp Park Menangle were pleased with the results and are already planning on improvements next year.  Peter Green from NSW Standardbred Sale Pty Ltd announced a clearance rate of 77% with an average price of $23,325.

“We were really happy with the way it all turned out, there was a lot of planning that went into the day and I’m sure with a full twelve months to plan for next year’s sale, we can make it even better,” Green said.

“Of the 26 horses that trialled on Sunday morning there were only eight that were buy-backs and two of those were sold soon after so I think it shows there is a definite place for this type of concept in New South Wales.”

Lot 33 – a colt by Mach Three out of Mayhappen was sold to Rod Smith for $60,000 and topped the sale.

“Lot 25 for Michael House was passed in for $80,000 but another of his colts sold for $60,000 and after speaking with Michael late in the day he was happy which was good to hear from our point of view.

“Ideally we would have liked to have more big money buyers at the sale but I’m sure the success of this year will encourage more people to turn up next year.”

Green thanked all of the sponsors for their support of the Ready2Run Sale and also congratulated the people who had prepared horses for the sale.

“Without sponsors it is very hard to put on such a professional event and a special thank you must go to the New South Wales Harness Racing Club and Harness Racing New South Wales because without their help it would never have happened.

“All of the horses looked fantastic on Sunday and were so well mannered it really is a credit to the preparers who had done so much work with the young horses.”

A debrief will take place in the next fortnight and Green confirmed the whole sale from start to finish will be analysed.

“We’ll sit down soon and look at everything we did, I’d think there will be a few changes for next year after a couple of ideas and suggestions have been passed on but the concept won’t change, it will be more fine tuning than anything.”
