6This past week has been a quiet one for the Christchurch Casino NZ Trotting Cup Rankings but not so the Haras des Trotteurs Dominion.

Within the Cup Rankings, Expressive Victor’s conditioned FFA win saw her jump ahead of stablemate Brilliant Strike. While second and third placed runners Maverick and Lewy Risk moved up a spot each for their efforts. Cullect A Guinness is the only withdrawal from the Cup over the past week.

In contrast, the Rankings action was hot within the Dominion. Realmein continued his strong run of form with a dominating win at Alexandra Park last Friday. That win took him up three spots to 20th. Springbank Eden easily won at Ascot Park on Saturday jumping him up a couple of spots also, to 30th.

The main action though came in the Banks Peninsula Trotting Cup on Sunday. The winner, Harrysul, moved from 20th to 10th, which all but rubber-stamped his spot in the Dominion. Bordeaux continued his impressive form and is a real up-and-comer in the trotting ranks. His gallant, front-running second moved him to 13th, from 19th.

The Road to the Cup and Dominion winds up further this week. Group races for both the pacers in the trotters highlight Friday’s Premier programme at Addington, while Kyvalley Blur will make his New Zealand debut against a smart field of trotters over 1700m at Alexandra Park on Friday night.

Classy trotting mares Habibti and Harriet of Mot are close to resuming and thus putting their hands up for Dominion starts. Both mares are at Ashburton trials today (Tuesday) against last season’s 3YO Trotter of the Year, Marcoola.

The next Rankings update will be in seven days’ time.
