Triple Inter Dominion winner Im Themightyquinn has run his last race.
Trainer Gary Hall Sr has just confirmed the champion pacer has a “spiral fracture to a front pastern.”
“It’s all over now. There’s no comeback,” Hall Sr said.
“After a week or so of uncertainty, they confirmed the fracture today so he’s finished.
“That’s my news. It’s sad news, but I couldn’t stand seeing him going through anything more.”
Im Themightyquinn was deep into a comeback campaign until he pulled-up lame following his first “serious” track workout last week.
Initially it was hoped the soreness was just a hoof issue, but Hall Sr’s worst fears were confirmed this morning.
“He was coming along really well until last week. The plan was a couple of runs in winter to decide whether we give the Inter Dominion a shot, but it’s all over now,” Hall Sr said.
The Kiwi-bred Im Themightyquinn retires with 111 starts for 58 wins, 34 placings and $4,567,456.
He goes out having produced one of the greatest wins of his career in the Group 1 Blacks A Fake at Albion Park on July 19, last year.
