Dr Hook 2nd in Dominion. Dr Hook led I also had Musgrove in the race but he did not back up well from racing Cup Day and couldn’t run on. This helped Vulcan to get out late and get up to beat Dr Hook by a head. I told Vulcan’s trainer Tim Butt, Vulcan had the ugliest head I have ever seen.I was copying Tim’s grandfather Derek Jones one liner when he was beaten on Soangetaha in the 1951 Pacing Interdominion Final into second by Vedette.
