Junior driver Charlotte Purvis will be sidelined for six to eight weeks after breaking her shoulder at the Waikouaiti meeting on Saturday.
Purvis was tipped from the sulky when Matai Jetstar abruptly moved in late in the score-up, contacting Circuit Breaker (Blair Orange) and her horse, Benz Buy.
Orange was also dislodged, but came away from the incident uninjured.
Purvis was transferred to Dunedin Hospital, where the shoulder break was diagnosed.
“It’s her AC joint that’s broken; she’ll need six to eight weeks for it to heal,” said her partner and fellow driver Matty Williamson on Sunday morning.
“It will heal itself without surgery, but she will have to keep going down to Dunedin for check-ups to make sure it’s healing.”
Williamson will be on limited stable duties at Phil Williamson’s property while she recovers.
“Hopefully she will still be able to work a broom with one arm,” joked Matty.
