Classy West Auckland mare Gotta Go Dali Queen has undergone an ownership restructuring that will see her continue her racing career in Australia with young Victorian trainer Mattie Craven.

Consequently, she has been scratched from Friday night’s Group 1 $100,000 Queen of Hearts at Alexandra Park

Go Racing, headed by Sydney’s Mick Harvey, has purchased a share in the daughter of Dali from her co-owners Tate Hopkins and Sue Martin.

Harvey and Go Racing have a large stable of horses with various trainers, headlined by superstar pacer, Hectorjayjay.

Martin bred Gotta Go Dali Queen out of former Group 1 winner Gotta Go Harmony, a daughter of 2002 New Zealand Horse of the Year, Elect To Live.

With Martin now retired from training, Hopkins has prepared Gotta Go Dali Queen for five wins up until now, in partnership with Frank Cooney.

A clause in the sale agreement gives Hopkins and Martin the option to get her back as a broodmare once her racing days are over, and that was key in getting the deal over the line.

“There are far more opportunities for mares in Australia and there is a chance she could go to Sydney and take a good time at Menangle, too.”

Harvey said the mare’s high speed and exceptional breeding made her a welcome addition to the portfolios of both himself and his partners.

“We are thrilled to have been able to secure a portion of her, and are delighted that Tate and Sue have stayed in the ownership with us.

The mare will fly out of Auckland on Sunday destined for Melbourne, where she will link up with Terang-based Craven.
