5Talented square gaiter Prince Eddie has made a full recovery from a serious leg injury and he is ready to return to the winning list when he contests the Retravision Trotters Pace over 2130m at Gloucester Park on Friday night.

He will be having his third start in this campaign for Serpentine trainer Gary Hall sen. after having been out of action for 18 months.

“He has recovered from a damaged suspensory ligament in a hind leg,” said Hall. “And without Cardigan Boko to contend with, he should win.

“Reverse the barrier draws in last week’s race (in which Cardigan Boko led and beat Prince Eddie) and Prince Eddie would have given the opposition something to chase.”

Prince Eddie began fast from out wide at barrier No. 7 last Friday night and Gary Hall jun. made a spirited bid for the lead in the early stages. However, Cardigan Boko, who was first out from barrier three, withstood the early challenge and then bowled along in front, followed by Prince Eddie.

Prince Eddie fought on determinedly, but was no match for Cardigan Boko, who sped over the final quarters in 29.1sec. and 28.1sec. and beat Prince Eddie by three lengths.

The consistent Enjoy A Coldie and Retained, who has been placed at his past three starts, appear the main dangers to Prince Eddie.
