3Former New Zealand mare Our Strawberry Miss added to her broodmare value with another metropolitan win at Globe Derby Park last Friday night.

A $9.10 chance, Our Strawberry Miss, driven by Jock Dunlop for trainer Greg Norman, dashed up the sprint lane to win the Trotsguide.Com.Au Pace (1800m).

She scored by a half head from Perfectly Written ($4.40) with Hes Just Rusty ($13.80) 5-1/2 metres away third.

Our Strawberry Miss rated 1:58.9 in winning which improved on her previous best of 1:59.7.

The five-year-old is owned by AB&T Cormack Racing Pty Ltd managed by Adam Cormack.

The Cormack family are setting up a fantastic breeding and training set up outside Two Wells with a number of broodmares and Our Strawberry Miss, purchased for her breeding, is soon to make the transition to broodmare.

Trainer Greg Norman said Our Strawberry Miss had an upcoming date with champion sire Bettors Delight.

“She was a very expensive yearling purchase and is a half-sister to Breeders Crown winner The Carpenter’s Daughter which won more than $300,000,” Norman said. “Another of the dam’s progeny has won in excess of $100,000.

A winner of two races in New Zealand, Our Strawberry Miss has picked up three wins in South Australia to increase her value.

Perfectly Written led from gate four on Friday night for driver Wayne Hill with first quarters of 31.3 and 31.4 increasing to 29.0 for the third quarter and coming home in 28.7.

Winning driver Jock Dunlop said he had been confident of victory during the run.

“The leader was going along at a nice tempo and I know my mare has a good sprint,” Dunlop said.

“She took a bit longer than I would have liked to go down to the sprint lane but once there she wound up quickly.”
