BB3 adam cartwrightThree SA trainers won races at the Mildura on the opening night of their cup carnival on Tuesday April 5th.

Barry Flaherty and Bev Gidman won the first race with their wonderful little pacer Vaevenca. Vaevenca was driven by Emma Hamblin. He has won his last two starts at Mildura. He picked up over $8000 in stakes in those wins. It warms the cockles of my heart when SA trainers come home with a bag of Victorian prizemoney – God knows they help themselves to ours enough.

Interestingly, Vaevenca  (Art Major- Gipsy’s Return) has won 5 races and he has placed 4 times from only 9 starts on the Mildura circuit. Vaevenca is closing in on $50 000 in stakes. He is a 5YO gelding by Art Major.

Ryan Hryhorec travelled to Mildura with the talented Plati. Plati duly won with Gavin Lang in the bike.. Plati has won two races and been placed twice at Mildura. Plati is heading towards $40 000 in stakes. Plati is a 4YO gelding by Village Jolt. He is owned by Mr. Frank Borg.

Plati is well travelled this season as well as regular trips to Mildura he also took out the Broken Hill Cup.

The Greg Norman trained Our Strawberry Miss ran second to Plati. That was a great result for SA.

Later in the night Greg Norman came up trumps with his talented grey pacer, Adam Cartwright, at massive odds. Adam Cartwright is a 5YO gelding by Ponder out of Lombo Regalia,

Adam Cartwright was bred and is owned by the Cormack family and is now a winner of $55,190 in stakes.

The eats of the h heats of the Mildura Pacing Cup went to Hectorjayjay having his first start for David Atkien’s stable and Stunning Grin.
