An opportunity to view some of the prime youngsters in the Australian Pacing Gold Melbourne sale in their natural environment is the incentive to attend an Open Day at Durham Park Standardbreds, Durham Lead, near Ballarat, on Sunday starting at 11am.
A highlight of the day will be a parade of the entire 11-strong draft of Durham Park.
Breeding and younger stock will also be available for inspection.
The consignment includes a Bettor’s Delight half-sister to the NSW Derby and Breeders Crown champion Ideal For Real, a Mach Three half-brother to the Breeders Crown and Vicbred placegetter Perfect Sense, a Bettor’s Delight colt out of one of the fastest mares ever bred in New Zealand, My Double Dream 1:49.4 ($669,000), a Mach Three half-sister to last Monday’s impressive Melton winner Beach Garden and a Bettor’s Delight half-brother to recent dual three-year-old winner Breach The Beach.
Interestingly, eight of the youngsters are out of North American-bred mares, nine are out of sub 2:00 mares, six are from sub 1:54 winners and four are out of $100,000+ earners.
Durham Park principal Bruce Edward said yearlings bred and reared at his property and sold at the sales had achieved an excellent strike rate.
“Nearly 75 percent of the yearlings we have bred over the last five years have been successful,” Mr Edward said.
Lunch and refreshments will be served on the day.
