5Will it be another Australian victory in New Zealand’s Holy Grail?

Arden Rooney, trained and driven by Australian reinsperson Kerryn Manning created history last year when successful in the Gr.1 $750,000 Christchurch Casino New Zealand Cup at Addington.

Manning became the first female to win the country’s biggest event.

So, can the Aussie’s do it again?

The New Zealand Cup is a race that Australian trained performers have won previously starting with the Norm Lang prepared Steel Jaw back in 1982 and followed by My Lightning Blue in 1987 for Jim O’Sullivan.

The Australian owned Flashing Red managed back to back Cup victories in 2006/07; the Tasmanian bred millionaire was raced by Queenslanders Stuart Hunter and Norm Jenkin.

Again, this Grand Circuit event will be staged under standing start conditions (no handicaps apply) and run over the distance of 3200m on Tuesday, November 8.
