The inaugural Nullarbor is a little more than two months away and the field is starting to take shape.
Lavra Joe was the first horse locked into the $1 million event, where he will represent the RAM Racing Syndicate.
Magnificent Storm was then confirmed to run in Ladbrokes slot, while Spirit Of St Louis was confirmed to run in the Aaron Bain Racing & Summit Bloodstock slot last week.
There are still seven slots to be confirmed.
Get the latest from those slot holders yet to make a decision below.
Stephen Waters & Gary Hall Snr
Possible runners: Diego and Jumpingjackmac
“At this stage Diego might be the one because he won the Pacing Cup. I will leave it up to Steve though and he can pick whatever one is going better at the time. I do think Jumpingjackmac would be well suited in a 10-horse field. There’s not much between them and I think they’re as good as one another. They will both go to the Pinjarra Cup.” (Gary Hall Snr)
JP Pacing
Possible runner: Mighty Ronaldo
“There’s four guys that are in the slot and it will be up to them. We’ve had some interest from outside slot holders in Mighty Ronaldo but it’s something we haven’t had a chance to discuss yet. Mighty Ronaldo is the horse we had in mind for our slot. He’s back in full work and he will go the Pinjarra Cup second-up and then we might look at the Bunbury Cup.” (Justin Prentice)
Regency Foods
Possible runners: Ezana and To Fast To Serious
“We have got a few options with To Fast To Serious and Ezana, who is a horse that we like. We are also speaking to one possible option in Melbourne. Ezana was a didn’t have a great campaign last campaign. We will see how To Fast To Serious goes in Sydney. He’s going to go to trials and then to the Newcastle Mile next week. Luke McCarthy is happy with how To Fast To Serious is going over there and said not too many horses can 1:52.4 at Newcastle.” (Rob Tomlinson)
On Magnificent Storm
“I’m very happy with him and he looks amazing. He will be ready to go for the race. He will have two starts leading into it. It’s full steam ahead.” (Rob Tomlinson)
Swandoo Harness Racing Syndicate
Possible runners: Ragazzo Mach and Hoppys Way
“We will keep our cards close to our chest. We will wait until the Tuesday before if we have to. Ragazzo Mach is our front runner but we have got other options. Ragazzo Mach will run Friday week. We also have Hoppys Way, who was close to winning the Derby.” (Jim Giumelli)
Team Bond
Possible runners: Minstrel and Patronus Star
“We will set Minstrel and Patronus Star on the path towards it. We will probably wait until late to make the decision. They’re the main two we have in mind and are being aimed at the Pinjarra Cup. Himself has had two weeks off and he could be third option for us as well.” (Greg Bond
Kevin & Kyle Jeavons
Possible runners: Shockwave
“Shockwave probably needs a bit more time. I’ll see with Belly (Ryan Bell) how he’s coming up. I’d love to pick him if he’s right. I don’t want to rush him in a race of that quality though. I’d like to have a runner locked away a month before the race.” (Kevin Jeavons)
