VICTORIAN trainer Russell Jack looks set to dominate this Saturday night’s Group 1 Gold Tiara Final at the Bathurst Paceway.
Leading the Jack charge will be Just Hope who won her Tiara heat by a massive 16 metres in a sizzling mile rate of 1:56.9.
Just Hope, who will be driven by leading reinswoman Amanda Turnbull, drew ideally in barrier two and looks set to lead all the way.
Turnbull is looking to add to her two previous Tiara wins on Pixies Parlor (2015) and Joanna (2020).
Along with Just Hope, Jack’s two other runners are also strong chances in the $100,000 final.
Captains Queen (four) won her heat from a challenging second row draw, while Shez Bettors Babe could do it tough from the back row of the draw (11), but showed plenty of courage in her heat efforts as well.
Jack has already claimed two Tiara trainer and driver trophies, having found success with Sheza Lobell (1992) and Yeronga Songbird (1994) and is excited about his chances in this edition of the Tiara.
“All three of my fillies in the final are there with a great chance,” Jack said.
“While Just Hope will be very hard to beat, particularly from that draw, I know Captains Queen and Shez Bettors Babe will also give their best.”
When asked about his family’s long term involvement and support of the Carnival, Jack said: “This is such a great harness racing event.
“My brother David and I have been coming here for a long time and we always enjoy it.
“The racing is great, the people are wonderful and the atmosphere on Finals night really is second to none.”
Jack concluded by encouraging anyone with an interest in the spectacle of top quality harness racing to get involved on Saturday night.
“If you can get to the Bathurst Paceway, you just should get there. It’s one of the great harness racing nights of the year.
”And, if you can’t get there, find some other way to get involved. The spectacle will, as always, be something special.”
