THE new harness racing season begins today and marking the occasion are meetings at Newcastle and Leeton tonight.
At the latter there are multiple feature races including the Kriden Park Ladies Invitational Pace where Victorian reinswoman Laura Crossland is making the trip north.
Crossland will partner with the Kevin Wheatley-trained Are Doubleyou in this feature and has three other drives throughout the program.
Meanwhile, another feature is the Leeton Cup (Race 4) which became much more open when recent three-time winner Harry Turbo was scratched.
The other feature event at Leeton is the Milbrae Quarries Final where Coolhand Easton will have to overcome the second row to continue his winning streak.
At Newcastle, an eight-race card will kick off the New Year in the Hunter Region.
Next month, Newcastle will host the Group 1 Newcastle Mile as a qualifier for the $1million Miracle Mile on March 6.
