NEW South Wales representative Andrew Bourke took out this year’s Lizzie of Rossland’s Kidz Kartz Rising Stars Drivers Series in New Zealand last Friday.
Bourke, who drives for the Newcastle/Maitland Club, was selected by Harness Racing NSW to represent the state in the series along with Jemma Howard-Coney from Shoalhaven Club.
The first round of heats were held at Cambridge Raceway and the final three heats at Alexandra Park.
Holding a handy lead after the first day of heats, Bourke went on in fine style the second day to take out the series in convincing style from Tayla Collins from the Taranaki Club while Kaleb Bublitz from Waikato Club finished third.
Jemma drove consistently throughout the series to finish fifth.
Points were awarded for each heat and a point score decided the eventually winner.
Both NSW drivers competed against 10 New Zealand drivers from various Kidz Karts Clubs across the country.
This concept is in place for the next six years where NSW will send representatives to the New Zealand series and vice versa.
The NSW Mini Trot Association would like to thank Kidz Karts New Zealand for their hospitality, HRNSW for their continued support and wish both Andrew and Jemma all the best as they continue their achievements in the sport.
